Mayor Romero made a good, and accurate point: Trump's ICE wars on migrants, refugees and asylum seekers is taking a toll on Tucson's economy; the nation's economy. Immigration advocates have argued for decades that immigration is a win-win propasition and a net gain for America and its economy. We failed migrants and ourselves when we had numerous opportunities to create a path to citizenship for immigrants and did not do so. It's a shame that ICE is getting away with detaining and deporting migrants, refugees and asylum seekers who have been residents for decades. I back Mayor Romero's statement 100 percent.

Again, there are possible scenarios where the AI data centers can use alternative energy sources and cool their electronic systems with artificial coolants (not water). The bigger question is whether AI will be profitable or not? Right now, AI overall is not a profitable venture and many economists believe there is an AI bubble that is about to burst???

It’s not surprising revenues are down. The jobs reports have been squishy the past few months, and consumer confidence has been declining. Coincidentally, the stock market has been booming, but the reasons for this are interesting and largely unsustainable.

My husband is a furloughed federal employee, and we have definitely cut back on spending for months now while awaiting bad news about layoffs, then bad news about furloughs, and then bad news about furloughs with layoffs.

We might not live in the city, but we typically do most of our shopping there.

Gov. Hobbs recently allocated an additonal $13 million to eviction prevention and homelessness response, and it looks like Pima County should be getting some of those dollars. Hopefully that finds its way to city efforts. I hope that these TPD cuts don’t impact the city’s implementation of the safe city initiative.

Swear in Adelita Grijalva already! The special election was on September 23. On the regular Election Day, there is another special election for Congress in the Houston area that is sure to have another Democratic representative-elect who will sign the petition to release the Epstein files. It seems all norms are gone now. The federal government is sending goons to oversee this year’s elections in California and New Jersey. Will our votes in the 2026 midterms simply be ignored?
