Journalism, like many vocations, is a calling. Unfortunately, journalism is a potentially dangerous job. Thanks to all the journalists around the world, including you, Joe, who are saying, Yes! to the call.
As a native Phoenician, I wasn’t knowledgeable about Joe’s experience when I moved to Tucson. I enjoy the “inside baseball” information on all things local. Thanks to both the Tucson and Arizona Agendas for cutting through the noise and providing fact based reporting. Oh, and in advance of Friday’s game 🔱
I’m glad you’re back, too. But I’d like to mention you were a great constable. Remember how many families you kept from homelessness because YOU decided it was worth your time reaching out to every single one, and work with them ahead of time?
You were also a great bureaucrat. Your DUI Treatment Court brought folks to recovery and you did it in the most human way possible. You were part friend, coach, stern father, and cheerleader. You changed lives yet again.
I’m honored to have been a part of those “years off,” but I’m overjoyed you’ve gone back to your calling and share your spark with us five days a week.
Joe, I appreciate your writing and your efforts to keep us Arizonans informed - in a manner that transcends petty politics. A heart-felt thank you for all you do!
As a transplant, I’m blown away by the quality and dedication these pages demonstrate every weekday. It’s a gift to learn of your legacy and witness your journalistic skill, Joe!

You were a good journalist 30+ years ago… You’re much better as a seasoned reporter. Keep it up, stay humble.
You folks do a great job!!!
