This year, Labor Day falls on the last day of our much-needed break from publishing.
We’ll be back in your inboxes tomorrow morning!
We may not have been sending out newsletters over the past few weeks, but we’ve still been laboring away.
In fact, we started building a library.
We’ve wanted to get started on it for a while, but it’s hard to find the time when you’re putting out newsletters every day.
Thank you for allowing us a little time off!
Over the past two weeks, we gathered and sorted everything we’ve published this year, which includes 250 newsletters across the Tucson Agenda, the Arizona Agenda and our three weeklies, along with 1,500 curated news stories from our In Other News sections.
That’s a lot of news to keep track of, and we still have a long way to go. By the time we’re all caught up, the library will house 1,700 newsletters and more than 10,000 In Other News items.
Keeping track of it all is especially difficult on the publishing platform we use. Substack doesn’t offer a lot of tools to search and sort past editions, so it’s always been a bit of headache to find stories we wrote months ago.
Our new library isn’t quite ready for prime time yet, but it’s already been super useful to us. Soon, it’ll be super useful to you, too.
Now that we’re newby librarians — and in honor of Labor Day — we want to give a nod to our colleagues in the library sciences by offering a 32% discount on paid subscriptions for the rest of the week.
Why 32%? That’s the percentage of librarians who are union members.
If you’ve been reading the Tucson Agenda for a while, but you’re still on the fence about upgrading to a paid subscription, today’s a great day to click that button!
Hope you had a good, well deserved vacation. Perhaps when the right time comes, your next hire will be a cross- trained journalist/librarian.
